Nobody can accurately predict what’s in store for the 2012 real estate market but one thing is for sure, spring is still the best time to list your home for sale. As seen below in the Existing Home Sales Chart for 2011, the statistics show that after the season’s low point in January and February, there’s a quick and steady climb through spring to the season’s peak. Although the total number of existing homes sold per year has been declining since 2007, the month to month activity charts are practically identical.
February Existing-Home Sales Slip But Up Strongly From a Year Ago

February existing-home sales declined from an upwardly revised January pace but are well above a year ago, while the median price posted a slight gain, according to the National Association of Realtors®. Sales were up in the Midwest and South, offset by declines in the Northeast and West.
